Tourism road signage
Tourism road signage
If you are setting up a tourism business, you may need roadside signage to help customers find you.
Gaining the relevant permissions for road sign installation can be a lengthy process.
The process begins with meeting a range of criteria to demonstrate that you have an attraction or experience that has appeal and relevance to the tourists travelling in Tasmania.
If you are starting out in the tourism industry, be sure to start this process well before you want the signs installed.
Some items you will need before you apply include:
- business name registration or Australian Business Number (ABN)
- Tourism Accreditation
- Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) online listing
- Certificate of Occupancy from local council (for accommodation)
- food license details (for a restaurant or cafe)
- liquor licence (for a licensed premises).
Who is responsible for the cost of the signage?
Business owners are responsible for the entire signage process, which includes:
- the application
- the design and manufacture of the sign
- installation
- ongoing maintenance
- removal of the sign if the business closes.
You can start the process by reading the signage guidelines
