  • Visitors spent a total of $3.66 billion in Tasmania, with an average spend of $2,691 per person.
  • 1,360,000 interstate and international people visited Tasmania on scheduled air and sea services (not including cruise ship visitors).
  • Visitors spent a total of 12.75 million nights in Tasmania, staying for an average of 9.5 nights.
  • Purpose of visit for interstate visitors:
    • holiday: 49%
    • visiting friends and relatives: 29%
    • business and conference: 18%
    • other: 4%.
  • 50,800 Tasmanian jobs – which is 15.6% of Tasmania's total employment.
  • The direct and indirect percentage contribution of tourism employment to total Tasmanian employment is higher than any other Australian jurisdiction.
