Work Health and Safety Tasmania
Work health and safety (WHS) is about keeping people safe, healthy and well at work.
It means providing safe equipment and work environments, making sure workers have the right information, training and support to do their jobs safely.
It involves identifying and managing risks, and incidents that could cause physical or psychological harm (such as stress, fatigue, bullying, aggression and workload pressures).
These duties apply whether work is carried out at your own premises or at another business’s site.
If your business employs staff (including full-time, part-time, casuals, and apprentices), you are legally required to have a workers compensation insurance policy with a licensed insurer or apply for self-insurance if you're a large business.
This insurance covers claims for work-related injuries or illnesses, including lost wages and medical bills.
