Many Rivers Community Economic Development Program
The Many Rivers Community Economic Development (CED) program supports regional and remote Aboriginal communities to establish and grow economic activity on their land.
The program works in partnership with community organisations, such as Aboriginal Corporations, Land Councils, Land Trusts and other incorporated bodies, that represent the interests and welfare of their communities.
CED Managers are assigned to work closely with each community over an average period of five years. They visit regularly, typically two to four days per month, and maintain consistent communication in between visits.
Their role is to build strong relationships and help communities identify their strengths, challenges, goals and local context.
The program’s long-term aim is to support communities to become increasingly capable of independently governing and managing their chosen plans and economic activities.
Over time, the goal is for communities to continue pursuing their economic aspirations without needing ongoing support from Many Rivers.
CED uses a proven framework to build the capabilities and capacities necessary for sustainable economic development, ensuring that communities are well-positioned for long-term success.
