The Tasmanian Government has assumed a caretaker role ahead of the election for the Tasmanian House of Assembly. It is important during this time that Tasmanian Government resources are not used to communicate political material. As such, no political or election material will be placed on this site.

Business Tasmania

Work health and safety

Ensuring you, your people and customers are safe in your workplace is a critical role for business owners.

Worksafe Tasmania is set up to help all Tasmanian employers and businesses to comply with the relevant legislation, manage risks, and if an incident does occur, respond quickly and correctly.

Their website is a wealth of information and advice, and they offer small businesses personalised help through their WHS Advisor service, where an advisor will come to your business and work with you to proactively create a safe working environment.

WorkSafe also publishes Workplace Issues magazine, which Business Tasmania regularly contributes to. It covers practical guidance on safety, workers compensation, and workplace wellbeing. The magazine is published three times a year, and you can subscribe for free.

Make your business accessible: making it easier to engage with your business

Our Accessible Business booklet offers practical tips and suggestions for business owners, landlords and tenants to make their premises more accessible and attractive to customers, including people with disability and older people. Promote your business as one that is supportive of people’s accessibility requirements and reap the potential benefits of an increase in returning customers and positive word of mouth recommendations.
