Employing apprentices and trainees

Employing an apprentice or trainee can bring real benefits to your business.

You can fill skills gaps, and teaching someone else often leads to re-evaluating your own processes, which can increase the efficiency and productivity of your business. Whilst there are incentives available to employers who take on an apprentice or trainee, there are also obligations you need to be aware of, such as writing up a training contract and training plan.

The Skills Tasmania website is a key source of information about apprenticeships and traineeships in Tasmania. They can help with a number of things including:

The Apprenticeship Network Providers is a free service and should be your first point of contact if you want advice about recruiting an apprentice or trainee. They can help with completing and lodging training contracts and determining eligibility for Australian Government incentives.
