No Interest Micro-Business Loans
The No Interest Micro-Business Loan program can provide financial assistance for those on low incomes who want to start a business or need help to grow their business.
The No Interest Micro-Business Loan program provides small, interest-free loans of up to $3,000 to people on low incomes. The program is delivered in Tasmania by the No Interest Loans Scheme (NILS).
The program can:
- provide an interest-free loan to successful applicants
- help you to turn a business idea into a practical proposal
- provide information on basic compliance and other requirements for establishing a business
- help you grow your business.
Who can apply?
Anyone who has a Health Care Card and has completed a business plan.

Applying for a loan
Call Business Tasmania on 1800 440 026 or email ask@business.tas.gov.au.
If approved, NILS will manage the loan. Payments are made fortnightly at an agreed rate. Repayments may be made through Centrepay, a free direct bill paying service available to anyone receiving a Centrelink payment. All planning advice and mentoring from Enterprise Centres is free of charge.
