Regional Visitor Attraction Hardship Grant

The Regional Visitor Attraction Hardship Grant Program will provide direct financial support to tourism and hospitality businesses which are identified as critical to regional visitor attraction, and who remain in financial stress as a result of COVID-19 travel restrictions.

The program is designed to assist the state’s strategically important tourism and hospitality enterprises survive the economic and community effects of COVID-19 and enable them to lead recovery and generate regional demand when market conditions are conducive.

Grants are available to assist these businesses to meet ongoing operating costs such as salaries, rent, utilities, marketing and other overheads.

The grant program will be structured in three tiers with grants available based on the highest business turnover achieved in either the 2018-19 or 2019-20 financial years, or in the 2019 calendar year if the business started in January 2019. For this purpose, turnover is defined as normal operating revenue (excluding GST) such as proceeds from the sale of goods and services to customers, as well as proceeds from irregular sources such as other grant programs and JobKeeper payments.

Funds will be allocated as follows:
Tier 1: Businesses with a turnover of between $200 000 and $999 999 per annum may be eligible for a grant of up to $20 000.
Tier 2: Businesses with a turnover of between $1 million and $1 499 999 per annum may be eligible for a grant of between $20 001 and $50 000.
Tier 3: Businesses with a turnover of $1.5 million or more per annum may be eligible for a grant of between $50 001 and $100 000.

Eligible applications will be competitively assessed by an independent assessment panel against the assessment criteria (available in the Program Guidelines), with consideration given to the scale of operation and significance to the regional visitor economy.

The program will open for applications at 12:00 noon Wednesday, 7 April 2021, and close at 12:00 noon on Friday, 7 May 2021.
